Matata Eco Tours runs specialised tours catering to any age or fitness level. We tailor tours to provide you an intimate and memorable experience of Matata through to the inland Tarawera Valley, with minimal impact on the environment and natural wildlife.

Our half-day tours let you discover nature and culture in one, with a visit to a local marae. Pick-up and drop-off from our courtesy bus included from the surrounding Eastern Bay area.
Full day tours are arranged to suit your requirements. Tours can include the famous Tarawera Falls, Native Bush Treks, Ocean Beach Walks, Marae Visits, Lagoon Wildlife sight-seeing, specialised bird-watching or Geothermal area viewing, all narrated to include the local Maori Myth and Legend that abounds in the region. Full day tours can include lunch, as well as pick-up and drop-off from our courtesy bus from the surrounding Eastern Bay area.
