The Tongariro rapids are fun without being too terrifying, making this a great trip for everyone. No experience necessary.

Enjoy this beautifully scenic river with its world-renowned crystal clear waters and abundance of Trout, frequently seen from the rafts.

Gather your partner, friends, colleagues or school group or come just by yourself and meet us at River Rats base at the Tongariro River Rafting Centre in Atirau Road Turangi.

Professional photographs are taken of each River Rats rafting trip and the Tongariro River Grade 3 is suitable for people aged 10 years and over (some conditions apply for children under 13).

Tongariro Float Trip

Let the whole family enjoy spending a leisurely afternoon cruising down the soft tumbling water of the Lower Tongariro. Our safe guided route brings the magic alive to first time rafters and especially children.

See ample Rainbow trout cruising the crystal clear pools, and native bird species in their natural environment. Learn about the region's volcanoes and the massive forces that shaped the unique landscape.

The Tongariro Float Trip is available for young children, if accompanied by an adult.

Tongariro Trip Times:

Summer (Beginning of labour weekend till Easter Monday): 9.00am and 2.00pm
Winter (Tuesday after Easter Monday to Friday before labour weekend): 12.00pm
