Situated in Ohakune on the doorstep of Mount Ruapehu and the Tongariro National Park the Powderhorn Chateau combines all the facilities of a hotel with the ambience of a boutique lodge.

Hotel Suites
The Powderhorn has 30 hotel suites. Their timbered interiors, queen-sized beds and large ensuite bathrooms create a homely feel and all are furnished with quality linens and fabrics. All have a lounge suite, Sky TV, work-desk with telephone and modem and tea and coffee making facilities. All bathrooms have a bath, shower and hair dryers.

The Apartment
The 'Mansion' is ideal for larger groups, sleeping between six and eight adults. It boasts large open plan living with a self contained kitchen and a spacious private balcony featuring alfresco dining facilities overlooking the Mangawhero River and native bush.

This is the ideal suite for long stays or if you are looking for lots of space and privacy. The open-beamed ceilings in the apartment create a light and spacious feeling, with French doors opening onto the balcony from the lounge and master bedroom. Two fully contained spa bathrooms add to the comfort of this apartment.

Our two restaurants, the Powderkeg and the Matterhorn, offer a high standard of dining, making use of local produce and a wide selection of quality New Zealand wines. Breakfasts and evening meals are available for guests and picnic lunches are available on request.
