Classic Sheepskins has been operating for 40 years, and is still run by its original owners. A free tour is operated twice daily at 11am and 2pm giving visitors a full step-by-step explanation of the tanning and manufacturing processes involved with sheepskins ( a by-product of the meat industry) The tour is unique in that tanning and then manufacturing are all carried out under one roof.
At the conclusion of the tour there is a large factory price shop offering sheepskins, slippers and boots plus NZ souvenirs, possum/merino clothing and accessories, all at factory door prices. A postal service is offered, and all purchases sent overseas are exempt of the 12.5% GST tax.
