You can find The CraftShed at the southern end of Katikati, on Marshall Place, where we make furniture from native timbers such as rimu, matai, kauri and tawa. The timber is described as recycled because it is sourced from dismantled buildings. With each piece of furniture we attach a "certificate of authenticity" which ststes the type of timber and where it originally came from.
Our furniture is distinctive becuase of its beautiful finish. This oil and wax finish is deep and lustrous, showing the grain of the wood to its best advantage. Displaying the characteristic imperfections in the wood due to its previous history, our furniture is both interesting and attractive. When you buy one of our pieces the timber, the finish and its recycling history make it uniquely yours.
Our website (www.craftshed.co.nz) ilustrates examples of our furniture. We produce over 120 different items including scotch-dressers, dining tables, video cabinets, bedroom furniture, hutch dressers, hall tables, stools, serving trays, CD towers and more.
In addition to the standard items , we also make pieces to order from your designs or pictures. You will be given an obligation and cost-free quote which is highly competitive with any other workshop. We pride ourselves as having very reasonable prices.
