A seal colony is found at one end of the beach, dolphins are often seen swimming in the surf, surf-casting fishing is popular. The beach is a source of many stones, including greenstone.
Pets are allowed, there are stone barbecues & a children's playground, as well as an above ground swimming pool. Sports such as volleyball, badminton & petanque are catered for here.
Situated in the centre of the West Coast the camp is close to many attractions, including the Paparoa National Park, Punakaikai Pancake Rocks & Blowholes & Shantytown.
