Many times Eastender Backpackers and the Horse Treks have been referred to as the real New Zealand experience. On the unspoiled Maori owned farm the old shearers quarters have been transformed into a clean and cosy accommodation suitable for both individuals as well as families. The backpackers can sleep up to 30 people divided between 2 dorms and 4 wooden cabins. All guests can use the communal kitchen facility, the outside BBQ or order a traditional Hangi meal (conditions apply).
Situated at the Backpackers, Eastender Horse Treks offers one of New Zealands adventures that nobody should miss. We have a number of riding circuits that takes you along an isolated beach full of driftwood and up onto the hill tops with stunning views of the East Coast area.
A 10 minute climb either by foot or on horse back will take you to the top of the hill to be the first in the world to see the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean. The backpackers also offers its guests the opportunity to make a Bone Carving with local Maori carvers.
Visit our place, do a horse ride, a bone carving, enjoy your Hangi meal, light the outside fire for a night under the stars and set your alarm to meet the sun at dawn! Haere Mai! Haere Mai! Haere Mai!
