Kayak the stream from our jetty and enjoy the natural bird habitat, exploring caves and walking on gorgeous Lonely Bay. Finish your day unwinding by the fire, with a wine from our local vineyard in the company of fellow travellers. Our guest wing has 3 luxurious suites, tiled ensuites and french doors opening onto private decks with all those special touches our guests love. We bring breakfast to you to enjoy in the garden, room or deck - try our delicious homemade muesli and bread, yoghurt drizzled with honey, fruit compote and maybe muffins to take on your picnic. For those longer stays, " Mussel Bed Cottage" is self-catering with breakfast provisions for your first night of stay - ideal for 2 couples travelling together or a small family group. We can arrange your bookings for you whether it be a fishing charter, boat cruise or we highly recommend sea kayaking to Cathedral Cove from Hahei Beach - you can start many bush & coastal walking tracks from here at Mussel Bed. Wines from our local vineyards are for sale to our guests, including the gold medal winning "Shakespeare Cliff Merlot" with visits arranged on request. Our local "Eggsentric Cafe" is nearby for its famous seafood platter & beachside dining or take the little passenger ferry to Whitianga at the end of our road for dinner & shopping.
