Winter is a veritable wonderland in Tongariro National Park. Snow covers our three glorious mountains, and transforms Mount Ruapehu into New Zealand's largest and most developed ski area with world class facilities and a huge range of runs. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people take advantage of the only ski field in the world within 500 metres of an active volcanic crater.

After an exhaustingly exciting day on the slopes, warm body and soul back at the Bayview Chateau Tongariro. Sip on a mulled wine beside one of our roaring log fires, soak tired muscles in our heated indoor pool and savour divine cuisine in our signature restaurant. Relax and unwind in one of our aprs-ski bars, or gaze out on Mount Ngauruhoe, in all its snow-covered glory, framed by our superb floor-to-ceiling Ngauruhoe Window.
